Oncology Yoga

Wow, who knew that oncology interventions (conventional and integrative) and yoga have synergistic qualities in providing wellness and restoration from dis-ease.

You may ask, please tell me more?

Yoga is a science and art that impacts Chinese meridians, organ functions, calms the central nervous system, reduces discomfort, builds strength and so much more!

The field of oncology continues to develop within a conventional and integrative form of disease management. The ability to meld east and west to support patients, survivors and their families with a specialized yoga program has many benefits for everyone touched by cancer.

A metaphor that I appreciate is:

"Yoga, breath, and movement bring balance; cancer and disease bring imbalance."

The various modified poses address many issues that everyone faces:

  • Fatigue and weakness

  • Anxiety

  • Fear, worry

  • Insomnia

  • Lymphatic challenges

  • Detoxification issues

  • Limited range of motion

  • Constipation, flatulence and bloating

  • Bone loss

  • Neuropathy

  • and so much more

There are numerous studies that outline the benefits of yoga, breath and movement which is now being offered at Mayo clinic, Cleveland clinic, Memorial Sloan Kettering, and many, many, more facilities world-wide.

It is my pleasure to share that I successfully completed and am certified as a oncology yoga teacher with yoga 4 cancer: https://yoga4cancer.com and will be offering on-line classes in September 2024 so stay tuned :)

Many blessings,

Dr. Lana
